Dear Families,

As we head into the holiday break, we want to wish you all a joyful and restful season. This time of year offers a wonderful opportunity for students and families to pause, reconnect, and recharge. With that in mind, we’d like to highlight a few themes that can help support your child’s well-being over the holidays.

Self-Care

The busy holiday season can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming for children. Encouraging simple self-care habits can make a big difference. Activities such as reading for fun, practicing mindfulness or gratitude, getting plenty of rest, and enjoying unstructured playtime help students return to school feeling refreshed and ready to learn.

Family Time

The holidays are a perfect chance to slow down and spend quality moments together. Whether your celebrations are big or small, shared experiences help strengthen family connections and create meaningful memories. Even small, everyday moments—like cooking together or talking during a walk—can have a positive impact on your child’s emotional well-being.

Benefits of Tech-Free Time

In today’s digital world, unplugging can be a gift. Taking breaks from devices allows children to be more present, reduces stress, and encourages creativity and communication. Setting aside tech-free times or zones at home can help everyone reset and enjoy one another’s company.

Activities to Enjoy Together

Here are a few ideas for family activities during the break:

· Board games or puzzles

· Reading a book together

· Holiday baking or cooking a favorite meal

· Outdoor walks, sledding, or visiting a local park

· Arts and crafts projects

· Starting a gratitude jar or family journal

· Listening to music, singing, or dancing together

No matter how you choose to spend your holiday break, we hope it brings rest, joy, and meaningful connection. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to welcoming students back in the new year.

Warmest Wishes,

Your Mental Health Team
