This initiative is made possible through partnerships with Medicine Hat Public Schools, Bridges Family Programs, City of Medicine Hat Parks and Recreation, Medicine Hat Public Library and Sanare Centre. Through collaboration, the program creates a rich environment where children and caregivers can engage in creative, hands 0n experiences while connecting with local resources and supports.

Outdoor play is an essential part of healthy child development. Spending time outside supports children’s physical, emotional, social and cognitive growth. Outdoor environments encourage curiosity, imagination, problem solving and confidence, while helping children develop gross motor skills, and coordination. Nature based play also supports mental wellness by reducing stress and promoting calm, focused engagement. For young children, opportunities to move freely, explore textures and materials and interact with the natural world are critical for early learning and development.

The parent and child program includes a variety of open-ended play experiences designed to support all areas of development. The activities include sensory play, physical activities, pretend play and a baby center specifically for infants. There will be water and snacks provided during the program.
